PETER JAY R.I.P.
Hoping this is appropriate....
Absolutely not wishing to assume the role of a deep and intense long time close buddy, Pete was certainly a great friend and colleague, who I've known for several years. He passed away yesterday on Sunday 25th March 2018 after a cardiac arrest, which was sadly unattended for too long.
I've found a few pictures from my collection to share, and found it almost impossible to find any without his cheeky infectious smile. We had a lot of fun, and worked brilliantly together on the few things we did, notably the EP and album for the London Gay Big Band, where he was a founder member and Musical Director, not forgetting a brilliant trombonist, plus some more recent tracks including one for La Voix's debut album.
The Rhythm Section of the LGBB and I were recording yesterday for their next album, and it was a very difficult sad day. Much love to his family both personal and extended, and nothing else is really worth adding other than how unfair life can be at times, especially now.
